UTair is the 4th largest provider of helicopter services in the world and the leading helicopter operator in Russia. The company commands the world’s largest fleet of rotary wing aircraft, with 196 helicopters operated in Russia, Europe, Africa, Latin and North America.
All UTair helicopters are equipped for both daylight and night operations in extreme climate conditions and temperature ranges. They are configured for high altitude operations in mountainous areas and above water. All the helicopters are equipped with anti-ice systems.
UTair is upgrading its helicopter fleet. In the beginning of 2008, the company signed a $200 m contract for the purchase of 40 Mil-171 helicopters produced at the Ulan Ude plant. The new aircraft will replace the fleet’s Mi-8 helicopters. Utair plans to purchase 35-49 AugustaWestland AW139 helicopters that will be produced in Russia. According to the concluded deal the deliveries are to start in 2011 and within next 5-7 years Utair will considerably expand its helicopter business.
On the helicopter transport market, UTair holds the leading position on the Western Siberian regional market. In addition, UTair has entered new global markets in Europe and Southeast Asia.
